Dress Rehearsal Parties

Several times each season the Nashua Symphony invites young people to learn more about the symphony at our Dress Rehearsal Parties. These events are designed to introduce young people to the symphony concert experience in a relaxed environment.

The parties begin with pizza and an opportunity to read The Pulse, program notes created especially for our young listeners. (The Pulse is available at every concert.) Then, an interactive class designed for students and parents personalizes the experience of listening and creating music with an emphasis on relating classical music to everyday life. Each student and parent receives Backstage Pass, a booklet of information and activities coordinated with the evening's class and music.

Visits from the evening's conductor and soloists concludes gives everyone a chance to ask questions of these important musicians before rehearsal. Everyone is invited into the auditorium to listen to the Nashua Symphony Orchestra rehearsing for as long as is desired. Dress rehearsals are an exciting way to experience classical music in performance, listening to how musicians work together to create the best music possible. The orchestra will usually rehearse for 3 hours.

For most people, the more they know about a topic the more enjoyable it becomes. To that end, the NSA produces this fun and interactive learning experience designed to broaden the musical understanding and create a lasting connection to classical music.
